I’ve been interning with East West Players for the past 2 or so weeks. You’d know them in association with David Henry Hwang, Tim Dang and other Asian American theatre pioneers and practitioners. They play a central role in the American theatre scene because they provide the voice for an oft silent (or assumed to be silent) community. It’s a lot to learn and a lot to postulate. History is in the making. I’ll try to post pictures.
EWP just premiered Be Like Water, it’s about Bruce Lee. Go check it out if you can. The script has some problems and the directing could’ve helped better. The lead actor and actress, teenagers who are absolutely amazing (for their age), are great too. The guy who plays Bruce Lee is uncanny.
